Leaving the windows and the doors of my mind open, and sometimes an epiphany visits.
Designed by
Theodore H. Waddell, Architect

Much like flipping an electrical switch, the TW7001 is a wireless light, that you turn the light over to turn it on or off. Theodore took everyday objects and turned them into a stylish Light Sticks Light. This design like many of his others is a timeless, stylish and integrates user participation.
The light sticks in this design includes a much shorter and larger straw that connects to the outside frame.
Brought back by Participation Designs, the TW7001 is technically updated to meet current safety standards without altering its original spirit.
The lamp has two stable positions: one in which the filings are at the other end of the tube, and the lamp is off. To turn the lamp on or off the user picks it up, rotates it and sets it down. The user becomes the switch.

Finishes
A chrome-plated fram 35 x 35 cm, made of tubular steel of a rectangular cross-section of 10 x 25cm.

Backstory
To make a light using the concept of a mercury switch, commonly found in ordinary thermostats: mercury in a glass tube makes electrical contact when the tube is tilted, and the mercury flows from one end of the tube, the off position – to the other end, the on position.
In a Participation Light, the tilting of the tube would be accomplished by the user.

TIMELESS, STYLISH, AND INTEGRATED PARTICIPATION.
